Quitting Smoking
Tito
Tito: I never smoked in my house or in the car or in front of my family. Just a few cigarettes on break at work, then a few more. I didn’t know I was hooked until I was fighting to quit for the third time. My name is Tito Alvarado. What made this time different? Well, my friend, Georgie, was diagnosed with cancer and I was about to be a dad again. I was afraid I’d get sick from smoking. It wasn’t fair to my family or my kids. I was ready and the patch helped. It was easy to use. I felt completely normal. It’s been 16 months since I quit.
ANNCR: People like Tito who use the patch, and get support, are twice as likely to quit smoking than those who go cold turkey.
Tito: Thanks, Georgie. Thanks Lucia. I’m done with cigarettes.
ANNCR: Sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
